By 2009 space travel will cost up to $40 millions
Cost of the travel onboard the Russian spaceship “Soyuz” to International Space Station (ISS) will increase from the current $25 millions up to $40 millions in 2009. Such information was announced by Eric Anderson, the president of Space Adventures.
He has also added, that the main reason of a price rise for the space tourism is weakening exchange rate of dollar in relation to the Russian ruble. In 2008, place in a group into an orbit and a week stay at the station will cost 30 million dollars.
Anderson has declared that his company has already got from Russpace two seats for the potential tourists, who will go to ISS in the autumn of 2008 and in spring of 2009. They will be, according to the president of the company, the American and the representative of Asia.
He has also noted that flights of space tourists are usually called as taxi missions, as they are used for the change of a crew at the stations and for replacements of the “Soyuz” spaceships, which stay in orbit for half a year.
Earlier the price of flight to the International Space Station for the space tourist varied from 20 up to 25 million dollars. Due to Space Adventures 4 Americans and one South-African have already visited ISS.
