The group of scientists from the Berlin University has developed the unique technology which allows to record on a usual HD-DVD or Blu-ray disk the information in volume of 500 GB.
As it is known, the maximal capacity of usual single-layered disks of high density makes only 15 GB for HD-DVD and 25 - for Blu-ray. However researchers have managed to develop such technology which unlike the standard method of recording on a surface, uses nanostructures of a disk, due to what such high density of recording was achieved.
As has declared Professor Suzanne Orlik, the head of the given development, 500 GB disk contains about 50 layers for storage of the information. And experts are not going to stop their work: they assume that potentially they can record up to a terabyte of the information on one disk.
