Astronomers-amateurs, whose telescopes are united into a global network, have discovered the third extrasolar planet with very unusual characteristics: weighs more than the Jupiter, and its year lasts for only 31 hour.
Astronomers have found out this planet within the framework of Trans-atlantic Exoplanet Survey, TrES project, and named it TrES-3 in honor of that project.
Astronomers inform that the found planet is twice heavier than the Jupiter and revolves around of a star remote from us on distance of one and a half thousand light years. The planet is very close to its star - closer, than the Мercury to the Sun - and in because of this its surface is heated up to 1500 degrees, and year lasts for 31 hour.
As it is known, the planets discovered in such a way are name transit ones. Such openings are rare enough. Now from more than two hundred exoplanets only 15 are transit ones, and three of them were discovered within the framework of TrES project.
