Production of the new Honda Civic FCX equipped with the hydrogen engine, Honda planned for 2008. Thus, Honda becomes the first world motor-car manufacturer who will begin mass production of automobiles on entirely hydrogen fuel.
Developers of the company inform, that new Civic will be produced in limited edition under the price less than 25000 dollars and will go on sale in the USA.
Such engines solve at once two major problems: they will make automobiles and their exhausts harmless to an environment, and they will reduce dependence of transport system which is key for the modern world, from oil and its derivatives.
Honda have not announced the number of hydrogen automobiles which are planed to be produced in 2008, but informed that these automobiles will be delivered to firm shops together with traditional ones.
As to characteristics, the novelty will need 8-10 liters (cost less than a dollar per liter) of a new fuel for 62,14 mi on a highway. The maximal speed of a hydrogen vehicle will make about 99 -105 mph.
