In Black sea jellyfishes forced out the fish
The group of scientists from the British Center of environment, fishery and aquiculture studies (Cefas) has come to a conclusion that excessive fishes catch in Black sea was a primary factor of jellyfishes distribution.
Scientists inform that destructive development of the Black Sea fish stocks for last 50 years at least twice radically changed the sea’s ecosystem.
Yet in the beginning of 1970th in Black sea the population of large predators reduced: dolphins, mackerel and a tuna. And as a result: instead of them small fishes like sprat and anchovies multiplied. And if fishermen in the beginning were reoriented on this small fish, to the beginning of 1990th it disappeared as well.
At the same time the Black Sea waters filled with jellyfish which is known under the Latin name Mnemiopsis
Earlier it was not found in Black sea. Scientists assume that this kind has got there with water from ballast tanks of the ships.
Recently fishing in Black sea reduced, and the population of fishes began to restore gradually. But, experts consider that limitation of a catch is not enough, and the situation over the Black sea, is the next example of injurious fishery.
