As a result of the biggest cooperation on search of exoplanets, astronomers from the USA, Britain and Australia have opened 28 new planets, revolving around other stars. Scientists have laid open to the public some of their results at the conference of the American astronomical society which is taking place these days in Honolulu.
Astronomers declared that these 28 planets are in the list of 37 new objects which they managed to find for the last year. But the most interesting, that scientists have found out four multiplanetary systems consisting of gaseous giants such as the Jupiter.
Professor Geffrey Marci from the University of California in Berkeley, who took part in researches, informed: “We start to observe, that our home is not unique in the universe “.
And the professor Tinny from University of New Southern Wales adds, that from 10 up to 15 % of stars have in their systems gas giants, but the majority of stars have too small planets, so that they could be found out from the Earth. Such planets can be in size as the Earth, and there can be life.
This year the scientists from observatory in Chile have found in Libra constellation a planet which is only one and a half time more than the Earth. They consider that there may be water which is necessary for life germination.
And, certainly, it is necessary to mention a unique planet Gliese 581c with its conditions suitable for a life – first such planet outside the Solar system.
