Charles Darwin, the author of the evolutionism, having spent five years in the round-the-world voyage on board Beagle, had expressed his admiration in the letter which now for the first time has appeared in the Internet.
This valuable letter is included into a collection from approximately 5000 Darwin’s letters, which are stored in the Cambridge University database. However this one is not a full collection of letters - the project Correspondence of Darwin has collected 9000 more letters, from Darwin’s correspondence, since he was 12 years old.
For the years of the life (1809-1882) Darwin was in correspondence with almost 2000 people. For this time he had written 14500 letters, about which scientists know for certain. In fact correspondence was vital for the scientist, as it allowed him to obtain the new information and discuss his ideas.
Charles Darwin corresponded with diplomats, clergymen, gardeners and pigeon-fanciers. So, it is known, that he corresponded and shared his ideas with Alfred Russell Wallace who collected flora and fauna samples on Amazon and Malay Archipelago, and who irrespective of Darwin has developed own theory of evolution by natural selection.
