Scientists from Stanford University have conducted researches and found out, that replacement of gasoline with spirit can cause negative consequences. Spirit (ethanol) considered to be non-polluting automobile fuel, however, that appeared only a myth.
Within the framework of research scientists used the computer model simulating a situation which can develop in the USA by 2020 when ethanol working automobiles can become extremely popular. Results were shocking: mass use of spirit allows to reduce emissions of two dangerous substances in an atmosphere, which may cause malignant tumor in person’s organism - benzene and butadiene, but simultaneously formaldehydes and acetaldehydes emissions will increase essentially. Consequently, petrol automobiles which frequently are called the originators of oncological diseases epidemic, appear no more dangerous, than spirit ones.
Besides spirit automobile fuel will promote emissions of ozone which is considered the basic smog component. The increase of ozone emissions, even in rather small amounts, worsens state of health of people, suffering asthma, lung diseases, and weakens immune system of the person in general.
According to the World Health Organization, ozone and other smog components annually kill about 800 thousand people.
