Japan launches a supertrain “maglev”
The supertrain, held above rails with the help of powerful magnets, is able to make more than 500 km/h. “Maglev” (from words «magnetic levitation») will run between Tokyo and the central city of the country Nagoya.
The magnetic cushion allows “maglevу” to slide above rails, reducing friction and increasing its speed.
For the first time the train was launched in the Great Britain, but in practice it is used only in one country of the world - China. In Shanghai “maglev” runs between the airport and city centre.
The first “maglev” in Japan will be managed by the Central Japanese railway company.
In the future it is planned to extend “maglev” branch up to the second-largest Japanese city Osaka.
The Japanese authorities want to replace well-known high-speed train Shinkansen with its maximal speed 300 km/h by “maglev”‘.
The president of the Central Japanese railway company Masauki Matsumoto has declared, that the company «will do the utmost, to realize dreams on Shinkansen replacement».
