Researches of the scientists from Cornell University submitted at the Space Meteorologists Forum in Washington, proved scientific connection between solar flares and GPS navigation system failures.
In December, 2006 two flares have been registered on a surface of the Sun. According to the researchers, these flashes were the most powerful for last years. Radio-waves intensity almost 20 thousand times exceeded usual sun activity during the 11-years period of calmness.
These radio-waves have broken connection between satellites and GPS signal receivers, than have caused failures in work of navigation systems on December, 5 and 6, 2006.
