Owing to the photos received with the help of infra-red cameras of Mars Odyssey spacecraft, scientists have managed to distinguish entrances in mysterious Martian caves from a surrounding surface of the planet.

It appeared that temperatures inside caves are more constant, than on a surface due to what in photos in the noon caves seem a little bit darker, and at night – are much brighter, than surrounding sites of the ground.

In opinion of the scientists, search of such hot spots on the night side of Mars can be one of the most effective methods of underground emptiness detection. Especially as during flight above the night side of the planet the majority of other devices cannot be used.
