Americans have created three-legged robot
Engineer Dennis Hun together with colleagues from Virginia Polytechnic Institute have created three-legged robot STriDER which shows rather strange way of movement.
The unique robot to the maximum uses gravitation to do each step, spending minimum electricity and demanding minimum of “brains to control the movement.
Developers inform, that the robot cannot go precisely on a straight line, it has dog-leg path. Though externally this robot is like nothing on earth, STriDER’s gait is closer to a gait of the person, than walking of the majority biped humanoid robots which exist today “, - says Hun.
According to founders’ intention, STriDER can be useful for installation of camera networks or sensors, and also it can independently carry out a role of the explorer.
