Scientists have learned to erase long-term memory
The Israeli and American researchers have found a way of long-term memory erasing, without damaging intellectual faculties at the same time. To tell the truth, for the present time scientists erase memory of rats only.
Researches in the field of memory study have led scientists to development of a preparation which in the future can be used for treatment of people, suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s sclerosis.
The given researches have shown that long-term recollections are not so steady, as it was considered earlier, and actually they challenge the idea about long-term memory as the information formed of short-term recollections.
“Memory can be erased if to apply a preparation in the certain part of a brain, that which is responsible for preservation of a long-term memory”, - told one of the researchers Jadin Doody from Israeli Vaitsmann Institute.
“This research is extremely important, as it throws light on mechanisms of memory. It also has shown, that long-term memory is not a constant change and can be edited “, - told Doody.
